The Earth as the Heart Chakra of the Universe
My January 28th weekly insights newsletter: what’s blowing my mind, what I’m reading, podcast life. Enjoy!

Friends! Fam, expressions of tellurian perfection, how are you doin’? Magnifique.
Last week I told a story regarding flirting with the world; I did my best putting the practice into action, and I hope you did as well.
But why? What’s the point of any of this? The trying, the seeking, the striving, the acting.
It can often feel taking action through speaking up, taking a chance, seeking gratitude through adversity, simply doing your best when you don’t see a reason to, is meaningless.
I often write about how taking a step back and marveling at the sheer incomprehensibility of it all simplifies life in a way.
We are on a rock in a vacuum of infinite space, and taking a step back to marvel at the majesty of nature helps assess what’s important.
This perspective alleviates some of those weighty, anxiety-inducing decisions we all make.
But what if it’s not those substantial decisions that matter, but exactly the opposite?
What if there is far-greater meaning to this rock we call home, to this pandemic, to every single action we take which, whether we know it, progresses our human species?
Here’s a wild idea I heard this week from one of the most revolutionary holistic medical doctors in the world, Dr. Zach Bush, who shares his expertise of the human organism, natural systems, and the spiritual cosmos on The Aubrey Marcus Podcast:
“Is the uniqueness of the human experience where we’re able to cycle through love and despair so quickly indicative that we sit at the very epicenter of some sort of energetic state within the universe?”
says Dr. Bush.
“When we resuscitate people in the ICU, they so consistently come back with trippy stories of what happened in that eight minutes that they were dead. And the multi-galactic journeys they take, the people they see on the other side with such clarity, physical states of being that they now come back knowing they exist, it’s just unbelievable expansion.”
Whoa.
Then what is the meaning of life on earth? The fact that we undergo this human form, indescribable consciousness, love and pain, fear and bliss, beauty and awe?
Dr. Bush explains that it’s possible the universe has chakra points just like the human body, and we, our little planet in a relatively small galaxy, sit at the very center.
“All of history’s myths that we’ve come to call religion, is it possible that those stories are real because we are this important, not because homo sapiens are important, but because this chakra center could change the way that the vibration of the entire universe happens?”
“And therefore the plight of humankind is so in interest to all of the universe because if we manage to stabilize this chakra center, that will change everything in the universe.”
What if we are the heart chakra of the entire universe, and we are here, we are now, for a reason?
🤯
I am definitely a neophyte regarding the chakra systems, those seven wheels of energy in the body which derive from the Hindu Vedic scriptures.
The fourth chakra, called anahata and which is known as the heart chakra, is located just beneath where the rib cage meets, and it’s where the lower three meet the upper three chakras.
The anahata chakra is generally symbolized by two intersecting triangles that form a six-pointed star with a dot in the center, and is associated with love and compassion.
The mystic and humanitarian Sadhguru writes:
“What we consider as the creature, that is you, is trying to move up — this is the upward-moving triangle. What we consider as the source of creation or the Divine is the downward-facing triangle.”
In whatever capacity, life on earth is striving to grow. A tree reaches for the sun and we humans seek to fulfill our “potential.”
This may manifest itself in many ways, and even when we aren’t aware of it we’re measuring ourselves up against what we could be.
It’s easy to believe in our modern world that traditional success metrics such as wealth and influence determine our growth as individuals.
But what if our reaching for the divine, whatever that means to you — whether it’s God or Source or if you’re like Gregory Benedikt it’s Kim Kardashian — comes not from the size of our bank account, but the depth of our heart?
And what if these tiny actions, just to be kinder to ourselves, to speak up when we know we should, even to hold the door open or smile to a stranger — what if these seemingly mundane actions mean everything?
Because each of our hearts beats for all of humanity.
And perhaps the heartbeat of humanity beats for the entire universe.
It matters that we explore what it means to be alive, what it means to be a human being with limitless potential.
It matters that we take chances and discover the world we call home.
It matters that we look inward and dig as deep as we can possibly go.
It matters that we open up our hearts to all life on earth.
Perhaps we matter more than we can possibly comprehend, and it can’t hurt to lovingly act as if it’s the truth.

What I’m Reading:
Faust, by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Faust is a literary classic, written by one of the greatest minds of all time, the 18th-century German poet, novelist, playwright, politician, Goethe.
This translation of this classic satire is quite readable; I’m enjoying it!
Latest Episode: DTD #57: Dare to Live a Life That’s Truly Yours with Paris-Based Creative Shabnam Ferdowsi
“Have you ever felt paralyzed with ambition before?” Writes Paris-based creative Shab Ferdowsi in her article on Medium.com.
“A dream so daunting and out of the ordinary, you couldn’t even muster the courage to talk to your closest friends about it? So instead, you wandered aimlessly towards whatever else other people were pointing to pretending your dream wasn’t there?”
No further reading necessary. Knowing nothing else about Shab, it was already clear that we belong in the same tribe. We’ve received so much wisdom from our guests who have traversed through the unknown and have made it out the other side with their spirit intact. We are grateful to be the wide-eyed recipients of their teachings.
But it’s absolutely invigorating to speak to dreamers like us who are in the thick of it, navigating uncharted terrain and seeking what lights their soul on fire.
Shab is one of these people — a writer, photographer, and all around creative doer who is no longer living somebody else’s dream. She writes: “No more floating. I want to surf.”
This conversation felt like talking to an old friend about what truly matters in life. We hope it inspires you as much as it did us.
